People often ask how much bike servicing is going to cost and it can be difficult to give an exact figure even after a thorough examination of a bike. Parts vary and fluctuate in price and some things can not be seen without removing something else first. We can however offer a three levels of bike servicing which provide guidelines as to how in-depth a service should be and therefore provide a guide as to how much a service might cost.
It is always our practice to inspect a bike upon arrival, ask questions about your needs and listen carefully to what you want to get out of a service. This way we can suggest which service is most appropriate.
Alternatively we can carry out specific repairs without the need for a full “service” in which case a price per individual service element or part replacement can be estimated prior to the work being carried out.
In addition, all geared bikes purchased from Gawler Cycles receive a free first service at between four and six weeks from date of purchase. It’s a great opportunity to ensure that any small problems are rectified before they develop into larger ones and it’s a chance to adjust gear, brakes and other things that tend to “settle in” during this period.
Following this free service, we recommend that you have your bike serviced on a regular basis.
Servicing your bike regularly greatly enhances the cycling experience as well as increasing the reliability and longevity of your machine.
It will be assumed that minor parts that are worn and need replacement will be replaced without notification. Parts that fall into this category would include, but not be limited to, cables, brake pads, grips and other low cost items.
If a major part needs replacement or the total of the parts that need replacement is significant, we will contact you prior undertaking the work.
It may become apparent during the course of a service that a major part or parts may need to be replaced. If, after discussing the additional cost, it is decided not to proceed any further with the service, a pro-rata service charge will be applied for work that has already been carried out.
These days bikes come in all shapes and sizes and the range of components such as suspension forks, brakes and gear change systems can be a little daunting. Equally the number of special tools needed to properly service and repair your bike is growing and constantly changing.
It is therefore important to keep your ride well maintained and running smoothly by a qualified and experienced mechanic.
At Gawler Cycles we can take care of all your bike servicing and repair needs. Whether you want to upgrade your current ride with some of the latest equipment on offer, or have your faithful old bike given a bit (or a lot) of TLC we will get the job done in a timely and professional way.
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused during this time
